You may be asking yourself “what are presets?”. Great question! Presets are pre-made filters that you can download and apply to your photos through editing programs such as Adobe Lightroom. With one click of a button, you can take your photo from basic to influencer status in no time!
I created my presets because I was struggling to keep my feed consistent and cohesive. I had tried all the apps and listened to 100+ masterclasses on how to make my feed more beautiful and none of them worked for me. The biggest issue I kept running into was the lighting in my photos. I could never predict the brightness, shadows, exposure, etc in my photos and these issues often caused me major headaches in my editing! I realize a consistent look is key and knew there had to be a better way to achieve it. Presets helped to define the look of my feed and establish a familiar look for my followers. The great news is, even if you’re new to Instagram or haven’t figured out the exact aesthetic of your grid yet, presets will help get you started.
Presets drastically improve the quality of your posts. A preset can take a photo from looking amateur to professional.
I don’t always have the time or funds to hire a professional photographer and presets help me to achieve the professional look without breaking my bank. Another great thing about these pre-made filters is that you can still adjust the settings so that it feels authentic to your style. Too much warmth? Simply apply the preset then edit within the settings. Super easy!
Did I mention that presets will save you a ton of time?! Like hours of time! Editing photos is probably the most time consuming parts of the Instagram experience for me. Once I started using presets, my editing time was practically nonexistent. If you’re not an editing wizard (like me), presets are a game changer. With literally a click of your finger, your photo is ready to post. My biggest piece of advice with social media is stick to the things you are really great at and save time where you can. Now I can actually spend time on the things I enjoy doing, like connecting with my followers!
